Terms of Service

Last updated

These terms apply to your use of this website and to requests you make to Ardmore Plumbers by phone or through the website. By using the site, you agree to them.

Who performs the work

Ardmore Plumbers connects you with independent licensed plumbers who perform the work. Ardmore Plumbers answers calls and form requests and dispatches plumbers. The plumbing work itself, including diagnosis, pricing, materials, permits and workmanship, is performed and provided by the independent plumber or plumbing contractor who comes to your property. Every plumber we send is licensed and insured in Illinois.

Your agreement for the work is with that plumber or contractor. Ask them for their Illinois license number and their written terms before work starts; you can verify a license with the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Permits are part of the job. In Villa Park, the village's permit rules make the property owner responsible for making sure a required permit is obtained before work begins, and in practice the licensed plumber usually applies for it. Ask whether the permit is included in the price and who is pulling it.

Estimates and pricing

The plumber gives you a price before any work begins. Nothing on this website is a price quote. If the plumber finds a different or larger problem once work is under way, they must explain it and give you a new price before continuing. Any after-hours, weekend or holiday rates are part of the price the plumber gives you up front.

In an emergency, the plumber may first stop water that is actively causing damage, for example by closing a valve or capping a line, before the full repair is diagnosed and priced. The repair itself still starts only after you approve the price.

Illinois law adds protections for larger jobs. Under the Home Repair and Remodeling Act, home repair work costing more than $1,000 needs a written contract that lists the costs, and the contractor must give you the "Home Repair: Know Your Consumer Rights" pamphlet before you sign. The Illinois Attorney General explains these rights in Home Repair and Construction: What You Should Know.

Warranties

Any warranty on the work comes from the plumber or plumbing contractor who performs it, and any warranty on equipment, such as a water heater or sump pump, comes from its manufacturer. Ardmore Plumbers does not add a separate warranty. Ask the plumber for workmanship warranty terms in writing before work starts, and keep them with your invoice.

Scheduling and availability

Our phone line is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We send the nearest available plumber, but we do not guarantee an arrival time. During storms and extreme cold, demand across DuPage County can delay dispatch, and we will tell you honestly what to expect.

Village programs and insurance

Information on this site about municipal reimbursement programs (for example, Villa Park's Home Flood Prevention Reimbursement Program) and about insurance is general and may be out of date. Program terms change and approval is decided by the village, not by us or the plumber. Check current terms with your village and your insurer before relying on them.

Website content

The guides and articles on this site are general information, not professional advice for your specific home. Plumbing, gas and electrical hazards can be dangerous: if you smell gas, leave the building and call 911 or your gas utility from outside. We work to keep the site accurate (see how we keep this site accurate), and if you find something out of date, please tell us. Content, images and design on this site belong to Ardmore Plumbers and may not be copied without permission.

If something goes wrong

Start with the plumber who did the work: most problems are settled by a call back. You can also call (858) 363-8298 and tell us what happened. Questions about a plumber's license, or work done without one, can go to the Illinois Department of Public Health plumbing program, and consumer complaints about a home repair business can go to the Illinois Attorney General.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Ardmore Plumbers is not liable for the plumbing work performed by independent plumbers, or for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of this website. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Illinois consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

Privacy

How we handle your information is described in our privacy policy.
